Powering the Future of the Office: Why we Invested in Envoy
By the mid-2010s, Visitor Management Systems began to increase in adoption as companies looked to create a seamless guest check-in experience and utilize technology to enhance corporate security and reduce unnecessary process friction. However, in March 2020, COVID-19 forced organizations to close their workplaces with tens of millions of people working from home for the foreseeable future. Nearly two years into the pandemic, many of these organizations (corporate offices, schools, production sites, and manufacturing facilities) around the world are in various stages of reopening — some are fully back on site, some are embracing a hybrid workforce, while others are just now looking into reopening protocols. The common thread is how to facilitate a safe return to the workplace.
While remote work has proliferated in a COVID-19 environment, we believe vibrant physical workplaces will remain important as they are critical to company culture. A safe return to the workplace and the transition to a more inviting space will require new, innovative technologies to facilitate the enforcement of new policies and operate a modern workplace in a post-Covid-19 world.
Envoy is the technology expression of this thesis. Larry and the Envoy team have built a dynamic workplace platform that maximizes productivity and improves the employee and guest experience by eliminating the friction in office leading to a safer, more engaging office that adapts space for flexibility and collaboration. Envoy’s platform powers more than 14,000 office locations in 100+ countries. It is designed to create a unified, data-driven workplace that removes the stale norms and broken systems throughout the office.
